Gbenga Ogunbote uses Akwa United to make point to Rangers fans

Rangers’ coach Gbenga Ogunbote has used the Akwa United situation to assure the Flying Antelope’s fans that they are going to come good in the coming weeks after a disappointing 0-2 loss to Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in their first game of the NPFL season on Sunday.

Playing at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium where they have had a measure of success in their last two visits the Flying Antelopes were unable to replicate their prior performances as they surrendered to the strikes of Kelly Kester and Dennis Nya in the 40th and 66th minutes respectively of the match.

Ogunbote hinted that his players made individual errors because they are yet to get to know each other. He added that with more games together the Rangers of his dream will surface

“We have seen it and have played it and a team has won. All we need to do is to go back home and make amends where necessary. That is what we are going to do,” Ogunbote told npfl.ng.

“We should realize that this is our first game and it is also my first as well. Some of the players played for the first time (as Rangers players) competitively but in a short time we should be able to get it right.”

“Akwa United coach (Abdu Maikaba) was here last season and some of the players too were here and his philosophy has been imbibed into the team so in a matter of time we will get it right. Give us a little time when the players will get fused together and you are going to see the difference,” Ogunbote said.
