Ola Aina makes Premier League Team of the Week

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has been named in the BBC’s Premier League Team of the Week after an impressive performance in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 win over Brentford on Saturday.

Aina opened the scoring for Forest at the Gtech Community Stadium, helping his team secure a victory that made them the first to defeat Brentford at home this season.

Defensive Masterclass
In addition to his goal, Aina was solid in defence, contributing six clearances, three interceptions, two tackles, and winning four ground duels. His efforts ensured Forest kept a clean sheet, showcasing his impact at both ends of the pitch.

Selection by Troy Deeney
The BBC’s Team of the Week, selected by former Watford striker Troy Deeney, highlights the best performers from the weekend’s matches. Aina’s inclusion reflects his consistent performances this season.

The lineup, set in a 4-3-3 formation, features four Liverpool players following their 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Aina joins Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Everton’s James Tarkowski, and Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen in defence.

Other Notable Selections
The midfield includes Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, and Arsenal’s Thomas Partey. In attack, Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, along with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, complete the lineup.

Aina’s Season So Far
Aina’s recognition underscores his growing importance to Nottingham Forest. With two goals in 17 Premier League appearances, the Nigerian international has been a key figure for the team, contributing both defensively and offensively.
