Ola Aina: Nigerians are football mad

Super Eagles defender Olaoluwa Aina described Nigerians as “football mad” as he discussed his Nigeria full debut with Chelsea football club.

Ola Aina on loan at Hull City sat down with Chelsea who are playing a 6th round FA cup tie against his loan club on Friday at Stamford Bridge to talk about his dream full debut and passionate Nigerian fans, and what wearing Nigerian green jersey meant ro him.

“That was another proud moment for me. It’s been going really well so far. My full debut was away to Algeria. We had already qualified for the World Cup so I wasn’t really nervous, but it was good to get out there and play.

“The fans are so passionate and it’s a big honour to represent them. The country is football mad and you feel that just putting on the shirt. We have some quality players in our team, including Victor, and I am looking forward to what is in store for us.”

Since he came on for injured Elderson Echiejile in the second half of Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Zambia at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in November 2017 for his competitive debut, he has started in Nigeria’s last two games.
