Ola Aina Shines as Nottingham Forest Secure Another Point Against Liverpool
Nottingham Forest, under Nuno Espírito Santo, continued their impressive run against Liverpool this season, earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the City Ground with Nigerian defender Ola Aina playing a key part.
The Tricky Trees remain the only team to defeat Liverpool in the Premier League this season and have now taken four points from the Reds across both fixtures.
Forest started strongly, taking the lead in the 8th minute when Anthony Elanga’s precise through-ball found Chris Wood. The striker calmly slotted the ball past Alisson Becker with his weaker foot to put the hosts ahead.
Liverpool responded with dominant possession but struggled to break through Forest’s solid defence. Luis Díaz’s long-range effort missed the target, and Neco Williams made a crucial block to deny Dominik Szoboszlai’s header.
In the second half, Forest continued to frustrate the visitors, with Murillo and Ola Aina leading a resolute defensive effort. Forest had chances of their own, including a dangerous free-kick from Elanga, which Alisson pushed away.
Liverpool eventually equalised in the 66th minute when Diogo Jota headed in from a Kostas Tsimikas corner, marking the Reds’ first shot on target.
Despite late pressure, Forest’s goalkeeper Matt Turner made key saves, while Aina and Elliot Anderson produced vital defensive interventions to secure the draw.
With this result, Forest have proven themselves a tough opponent for the league leaders, showing resilience and tactical discipline to remain unbeaten against Liverpool this season.
