Ola Aina Stars as Nottingham Forest Beat Manchester City 1-0

Nottingham Forest earned a crucial 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Saturday, with Super Eagles star Ola Aina playing a key role in helping his team keep a clean sheet against City’s star striker, Erling Haaland.

The match seemed set to end in a draw until Callum Hudson-Odoi, the former Chelsea player, scored in the 83rd minute. He controlled a cross-field pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, cut inside, and slotted the ball past Ederson at his near post to secure the win for Forest.

Aina’s strong defensive performance was vital in stopping City’s attack, as he helped his team defend against the pressure from Haaland and the rest of City’s forwards.

The Bigger Picture

Forest, now in third place, are four points ahead of City in fourth after this important result. Chelsea have the chance to overtake City if they win against Leicester City on Sunday.

What Nuno Espirito Santo Said

Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo praised his team’s effort: “It was a tough game, everybody saw how good Manchester City are, they had us on the ropes but the boys worked very hard. Of course, they were going to have chances, but it was then about us taking ours.”

He added, “Beating City shows the progress, but there is still so much football to be played. Let’s focus on the journey and move on to the next one.”
