Oliseh hails Iwobi, Bassey for ‘encouraging’ display in Fulham win vs Arsenal
Former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh has showered praise on Super Eagles stars Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi for their encouraging display in Fulham’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League.
Oliseh commended the maturity and discipline exhibited by Bassey and Iwobi, highlighting their decisive roles in securing Fulham’s home victory against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Goals from Raul Jiménez and Bobby De Cordova-Reid sealed the win for Fulham, while Bukayo Saka scored the lone goal for Arsenal.
Taking to his X account after the match, Oliseh said the performance of the Super Eagles duo, was encouraging as they prepare to represent Nigeria at the AFCON.
Oliseh tweeted after the game on December 31, “Extremely impressed by the maturity and discipline put up Versus Arsenal, by Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi as they played decisive roles in Fulham’s victory – over a seemingly, mentally tired Arsenal. Encouraging for the AFCON. Una do well !!à sir,”the former Super Eagles handler wrote on his X account.
Both players will be expected to fly to the United Arab Emirates where the Eagles will camp and participate in a 3-nation tournament before hitting Ivory Coast for the Nations cup which begins on January 13, 2024.
