Olivier confirms AC Milan exit, announces next destination

Former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has announced his departure from AC Milan at the end of the current season, revealing his next career move will take him to Major League Soccer (MLS).

Giroud made the decision to leave AC Milan after three seasons with the club, during which he contributed significantly to their success, including winning the Scudetto title.

Reflecting on his time at Milan, Giroud expressed his pride in his achievements, stating, “I will be playing my final two matches with Milan and will continue my career in the MLS.” He added, “I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved at Milan in the last three years. My time with Milan might be finishing this year but the club will remain in my heart.”

During his tenure at AC Milan, Giroud made 130 appearances, scoring 48 goals and providing 20 assists. His notable contributions included 11 goals that helped Milan secure the Scudetto triumph in the 2020/21 season.

Giroud’s departure from AC Milan marks the end of his successful European football career, which included stints at Montpellier, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

At Montpellier, he played a key role in winning the Ligue 1 title. During his time at Arsenal, Giroud lifted multiple FA Cup and Community Shield titles, while at Chelsea, he reached the pinnacle of his club career by winning both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
