Olympics Eagles beat Zambia 3-1 to keep hope’s alive

Nigeria U23 national team has bounced back from their shocking 1-0 loss to Cote D’ivoire in their first game at the 2019 Africa U23 Nations Cup with a win against Zambia.

Nigeria secured a hard fought 3-1 win against the Young Chipolopolo of Zambia in their second game to restore their hopes of qualification.

The defending champions were shocked by Daka’s 12 minutes goal but lively Orji Okonkwo pegged the Zambians back.

From a free kick, Kelechi Nwakali put Nigeria in front before Taiwo Awoniyi sealed the victory with his last minute strike.

Nigeria now with 3 points from 2 games now 2nd on the log one behind South Africa who has 4 points from 2 games.

Nigeria must avoid defeat in their last group game against Sputh Africa and hope for a favourable result in the game involving Cote d’ivoire and Zambia.

Only countries who finished on the podium will get a ticket to Tokyo 2020.
