Omeruo cash-in plotted at Leganes this summer
Spanish Segunda division side Leganes is plotting to cash-in on one of their key players this summer, Nigerian defender Kenneth Omeruo.
According to reports in Spain, Omeruo has one-year left on his contract at Leganes who are prepared to sell to avoid losing the Nigerian International for free next summer.
Omeruo first joined Leganes in 2018 from English Premier League Club Chelsea FC before making the move permanent the following season.
The defence maestro has stayed faithful to the club, raking 123 appearances, with five goals and and two assists from defensive position.
Leganes have spent the last three seasons in the Spainish second-tier reason even the defender will look for options to further his career.
This suggests a mutual interest for a transfer this summer between club and player. According to Dario As, Leganés will be happy to cut his high wages from their bills too.
The club will also look to recoup some part of the five million euros paid to Chelsea Football Club for the transfer of Kenneth Omeruo four years ago.
Meanwhile the defender was captain for the Nigeria Super Eagles as they defeated Sierra Leone 3-2 in Monrovia, Liberia to seal qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
Getting a good club where he will get game time will feature on the 29-year old’s mind if he must keep his starting shirt with the AFCON bound Nigeria Super Eagles.
