Onuachu, Aribo, Edozie to get new manager as Southampton announce Nathan Jones sack
Nigerian players Paul Onuachu, Joe Aribo and Samuel Edozie will get a new manager at Southampton following the sack of Nathan Jones on Sunday.
Just an hour ago, English Premier League table bottom side Southampton announced it’s decision to part ways with 49-year old Nathan Jones after a poor run of results.
Saturday’s 1-2 home loss to Wolverhampton was the ” Sucker Punch ” to Nathan Jones three months and 14 games era as Southampton manager.
“Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with Men’s First Team Manager Nathan Jones, ” a club statement announced on Sunday Febuary 12.
The statement also confirmed the exit of First team coaches Chris Cohen and Alan Shehaan.
For Paul Onuachu, it has been just two games under sacked Nathan Jones following his January transfer window deadline move from Belgian side Genk.
Joe Aribo and teenager Samuel Edozie will be working under a third manager at Southampton having previously played ubder Nathan Jones predecessor Ralph Hassentphul who was fired in November 2022.
First-team lead Coach Ruben Selles will take charge of Southampton training and prepare the team ahead of next weekend’s game against Chelsea FC.
Selles, holds a UEFA Pro Licence, has previously managed Valencia’s U18s, and has served as an assistant manager in Russia, Azerbaijan, Greece and Denmark.
According to multiple sources, Southampton have begun search for a new manager but will not rush into a decision.
The club is looking at a manager with experience to steer the club to safety, the Saints languishing in 20th place.
