Oshoala: Nigerians and my teammates happiness more important than personal glory

Super Falcons attacker, Asisat Oshoala has insisted on making Nigerians and his teammates happy rather than chasing personal glory.

The former Liverpool and Arsenal attacker who overcame her below par display in Nigeria’s 4-0 victory against the Shepolopolo of Zambia in their second game of the AWCON campaign told reporters on Saturday that she is not interested in personal glory but the team’s success.

“This tournament is not about individual awards or performance. The most important thing for me is to get the world cup ticket, that is why I decided to be more of a team player.”

The reigning african women player of the year who became the only player to have scored three goals at the ongoing AWCON in Ghana told a reporter who quizzed her performance level at the tournament saying:”I care more about my team, my nation rather than individual accolades.

“For me, I think with my experience and what we discussed as a team- the teams victory and success is more important than personal accolades.

“If you say I have not been performing so far, what I will just say is that I am happy with my self, I am happy with my teammates and Nigerians are happy which is the most important thing here.”

Asisat Oshoala was named the player of the match in Nigeria’s convincing 6-0 victory against Equatorial Guinea.

Up next for Oshoala and her teammates is a semifinal clash against Cameroon.
