Oshoala, Rashford, Vinicius Jr receive Socrates award nomination
Alex Morgan, Rudiger also nominated for award
Super Falcons and FC Barcelona Femeni star Asisat Oshoala was nominated for the 2023 Socrates Award by France Football for her contribution to the society. The winner will be announced alongside the 2023 Ballon d’Or winner.
Oshoala was one of five nominees for her Lagos-based Oshoala Academy which caters for girls who play football, putting them into a system where they can learn and improve their game and removing the stereotypes that exist.
The Nigerian star is the only African on the list and was nominated alongside Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, USWNT forward Alex Morgan and Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger.
