SSC Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen and Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho are expected to lead the line for Nigeria’s Super Eagles when they take to the pitch at the Stade Charles de Gaulle against the Squirrels of Benin Republic on Saturday in their AFCON 2021 qualifier looking to pick up a ticket to the tournament.
Osimhen has scored 4 goals and has made 4 assists in 3 AFCON qualifying games so far, and even though he has not had the best start to his Napoli career since making his big money move, will be looking to rediscover his scoring touch against the Squirrels. Kelechi ‘Senior man Kelz’ Iheanacho is in the form of his life, and has been the most consistent striker in the English Premier League with his return of 7 goals in his last 4 games. His deadly form will be enough to send shivers down the spine of any defence.
With Osimhen playing the role Jamie Vardy does in the Leicester City team for Iheanacho, running the channels and using his big frame to hold off defenders, the duo of Iheanacho and Osimhen can wreak havoc on the Beninoise defence. Coupled with a strong midfield spine of Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo and Oghenekaro Etebo, the Super Eagles look all set to claim an important win that would ensure they qualify for consecutive AFCON tournaments for the first time in over a decade.
