Osimhen nets for third game running as Napoli draw against Cagliari

Super Eagles and SSC Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen was on the scoresheet as Napoli were held to a 1-1 draw by Cagliari in the Italian Serie A on Sunday.

Osimhen combined brilliantly with Lorenzo Insigne to open the scoring for Napoli. A brilliantly dinked ball from Insigne was taken brilliantly in his stride by Osimhen before the striker slotted home a left footed finish beyond the onrushing Cagliari keeper to make it 1-0 to Napoli on 13 minutes. Osimhen was a menace throughout the match before he was replaced by Dries Mertens in the 75th minute after suffering a nasty gash following a clash of heads with Cagliari’s Luca Ceppitelli. Nahitan Nandez scored for Cagliari in the 94th minute to earn them a point at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Osimhen’s eighth goal of the season has helped Napoli reach 67 points and they currently occupy the last of the Champions League spots as they seek a return to Europe’s Premier club competition. Osimhen has scored in three consecutive games for Napoli and continues to play a key role in their quest for Champions League football.
