Osimhen Scores Again as Galatasaray Reach Turkish Cup Final
Victor Osimhen was on target once more on Tuesday night, scoring the opening goal in Galatasaray’s 5-1 win over Konyaspor to send them through to the final of the Turkish Cup.
The Super Eagles striker gave the Istanbul side the lead in the 26th minute, heading home a well-placed cross from his former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens.
It was a calm and clinical finish from Osimhen, who has been in top form this season. The goal takes his tally to 30 goals and 6 assists in 35 matches across all competitions for Galatasaray.
He is now just one goal away from matching his personal best of 31 goals in a single season, which he achieved with Napoli during the 2022–2023 campaign.
Lucas Torreira added Galatasaray’s second before the break, and three more goals in the second half sealed a dominant performance and a place in the final for the Yellow-Reds.
Osimhen’s impressive form has drawn interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Juventus, and Chelsea, who are reportedly eyeing a summer move for the Nigerian forward.
Despite the transfer rumours, Osimhen remains focused on helping Galatasaray win a domestic double, with both the league title and the Turkish Cup within reach.
His form will also be a big boost for Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, as Nigeria prepares for the Unity Cup and the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Osimhen is expected to play a key role as Nigeria aim to bounce back from a poor start to their World Cup qualification campaign.
