Osimhen Shines with Two Goals as Galatasaray Win Turkish Cup
Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray beat Trabzonspor 3-0 to win the 2024/25 Turkish Cup on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old Nigerian striker netted two second-half goals in a dominant performance at the Gaziantep Stadium.
Baris Yilmaz opened the scoring in the 5th minute, finishing off an attack that began with Osimhen and was assisted by Yunus Akgun.
After the break, Osimhen took centre stage. In the 52nd minute, Akgun sent a clever through ball into the box, and Osimhen used his strength to hold off a defender before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
His second goal came in the 63rd minute, as he finished off a quick counterattack with an easy tap-in.
Osimhen has now scored 35 goals in 39 games for Galatasaray this season – with 24 in the Super Lig, 3 in the Europa League, and 5 in the Turkish Cup.
This is Osimhen’s first trophy with Galatasaray, and it marks the club’s 19th Turkish Cup title.
Galatasaray are also on track to win the league, sitting eight points clear of second-placed Fenerbahce with five matches left in the season.
