Osimhen to follow Kanu, Drogba and Eto’o foot steps

He was the stand-out star at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

With Victor Osimhen as the main man, Nigeria came, saw and conquered at this year’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup in ViƱa del Mar, Chile.

The young Nigerian forward became the tournament’s top scorer as the ‘Super Eagles’ won the title for a record-breaking fifth time.

Fast, with impressive acceleration and a very direct style, Osimhen showcased a repertoire of shots rarely seen in one so young. Scouts sent to the tournament in search of new talent by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including PSG, Chelsea or Tottenham, have already taken note of the 16-year-old’s name.

He scored a goal against the United States, a brace against Chile, one against Croatia, a hat-trick against Australia, another against Brazil and Mexico, plus one in the final against Mali. That is ten goals in seven games.

Osimhen found the net in every game and, in doing so, he became the first player to achieve such feat at the competition and also presented his goalscoring credentials to the world.

With Victor Osimhen’s 10 goals he has chattered Coulibaly and Sinama-Pongolle’s record of nine goals at FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

Osimhene

Osimhen is now looking to follow in the footsteps of other African footballing legends like Nwankwo Kanu, Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba, who is the Nigerian striker’s role model and idol.
