‘ Osimhen will score in our next match ‘ – Super Eagles coach predicts

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Round of 16 clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, coach Jose Peseiro has predicted than Victor Osimhen will score.

With the forward miss-firing during the group stage with just one goal from several chances he’s had, Peseiro remains optimistic that Napoli star Victor Osimhen will break his goal drought in the upcoming match.

This statement comes as a response to concerns raised by fans regarding Nigeria’s goal-scoring capabilities, despite attempting 41 shots in the group stage and managing to score only three goals.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champions finished as runners-up in their group, setting the stage for a showdown with their close neighbor, Cameroon.

Peseiro, addressing the media in a press conference , staunchly defended Osimhen, emphasizing his significance to the team and expressing confidence in the striker’s ability to make a decisive impact in the crucial last-16 match.

Acknowledging that Osimhen missed several scoring chances in the previous two games, Peseiro remains optimistic about the talismanic striker’s performance. Despite the goal drought, the coach highlighted Osimhen’s role in creating opportunities and emphasized the competitive nature of the tournament.

“For our next match, Osimhen will score; he’s important for the team. He’s the top scorer, but this is a different tournament and tough competition.

” He deserves to reach the top position because against Equatorial Guinea, he created so many chances and he scored. Did Equatorial Guinea beat us? No, we shared the point, and I know we will beat them next time because it’s not easy in this competition,” remarked Peseiro.

Beyond Peseiro’s comments, Victor Osimhen will aim to make a significant impact in the upcoming clash against Cameroon, to fire the Eagles into the quater-final of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations.
