Palm Syrup FC defeat De Cardinal FC to take NLO Youth League promotion playoff ticket
Palm Syrup FC defeated DE Cardinal FC 2-1 at the Uyo Township Stadium to take the NLO Youth League group G promotion playoff ticket.
To reach the final, both teams finished top of group G1 and G2 respectively and so faced-off to determine who wins the group to take the sole promotion playoff ticket.
An imposing first half performance in the final match on Tuesday July 25 saw Palm Syrup FC lead 2-0 at the break in Uyo.
Christian Otu fired Palm Syrup FC in front on the half-hour mark before midfield sensation Kemfon Davidson doubled the lead with a stunning free-kick in the 32nd minute.
A cagey second half followed until the closing minutes when De Cardinal FC of Rivers State pulled one back for 2-1.
A tension soaked finale followed at the Uyo Township Stadium with De Cardinal FC pressing for an equalizer . Palm Syrup soaked the pressure until the 90 minute mark.
In the end it was Palm Syrup FC of Ikpe Anang who emerged victorious 2-1.
As winners of the Uyo Center , Palm Syrup FC and will now proceed to the NLO Youth League promotion playoff where they will battle for a spot in the Nigeria Nationwide League One for the 2023/2024 season.
The NLO Youth League is designed for under 19 aged players and is debuting this season with action witnessed across various centers in Nigeria.
