Paris 2024Q: Super Falcons hold Ethiopia In Addis Ababa

Rasheedat Ajibade struck a 52nd minute equalizer as Nigeria’s Super Falcons held Ethiopia to a 1-1 draw in their Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifier first leg clash on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

The Lucy of Ethiopia took a 6th minute lead at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, one they maintained until the half-time break.

Atletico Madrid Femininé forward Rasheedat Ajibade came up big for the Super Falcons with a stunning strike from 25-yards out to level the contest.

Gotham FC forward Ifeoma Onomunu thought she had secured victory for Nigeria late in the game but her effort was ruled out for offside.

It finished 1-1, with the return leg billed for the 31st of October, 2023 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

The aggregate winner of this match will proceed to the final qualifying round for a place at the 2024 Olympics Women’s Football Event in Paris.

The Super Falcons face Ethiopia without Head Coach Randy Waldrum who is deadlocked in contract negotiation with the Nigeria Football Federation.

Justin Maduagu and Ann Chiejine who took charge of the Super Falcons vs Ethiopia in Addis Ababa will continue when they file out vs the Ethiopian Ladies in Abuja.
