Paseiro: Playing Portugal will improve the Super Eagles team
Nigeria will face Portugal in an international friendly game on November 17, 2022.
Paseiro is yet to win a friendly game since taking charge of the Super Eagles but the manager is more concerned about the improvement that comes with facing quality oppositions like Portugal.
Paseiro said ” Playing against my nation, the best in the world which can win the World Cup, is extraordinary. But it is also a great opportunity: When you want to create a national team with great goals, you have to do it against great opponents.
” For now we have played against Mexico, Ecuador in the United States and then against Algeria.
” The path must be this,if you just want to win it is better to play against nationals without quality, but if you want to improve the national team, I also have to go through defeats that prepare us for a better future,” Jose Paseiro explained.
Portugal intend to use the game against Nigeria to prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup which kickoff on November 20 in Qatar.
For Jose Paseiro and the Eagles who will not be participating at the World Cup, the motivation is to improve.
” What motivation do you give to the players against the small national team? only the points for the FIFA ranking. But beating Portugal and competing head to head, then its different kind of path, ” Jose Paseiro added.
