Paul Onuachu Praised after Shining in Surprise Defence Role for Trabzonspor

Paul Onuachu took on an unexpected job in defence during Trabzonspor’s 2–1 win over Goztepe, earning praise from manager Ozan Tufan for his courage and teamwork.
The match was full of drama, with three goals and two red cards. After Trabzonspor went down to 10 men late in the game, the team had to adjust quickly. With defender Wagner Pina sent off in the 78th minute, Onuachu — usually the main threat in attack — dropped into the centre-back position to help protect the lead.
After the match, Tufan applauded the striker for putting the team first, saying they fought hard even with one player less and that Onuachu’s move to defence helped calm the team and inspire others to step up.
Trabzonspor had taken control earlier thanks to two goals from Ernest Muçi, scored in the 46th and 76th minutes. Goztepe responded in the 85th minute through Anthony Dennis, creating a tense finish as they pushed for an equaliser.
With pressure building and a man down, Onuachu’s defensive work became vital. He helped absorb Goztepe’s attacks, allowing Trabzonspor to hold on for the win. The result moved the team up to second place in the Super Lig, just two points behind leaders Galatasaray.
