Paul Onuachu To Miss Trabzonspor’s Next Match

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu will not be available for Trabzonspor when they play Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig next week.

Onuachu has been very important for Trabzonspor this season, scoring 11 goals and giving one assist in 15 league matches. His goals have been crucial, making up almost 40% of the team’s total this season. Because of his performances, Trabzonspor are currently second in the league with 34 points from 15 games.

The Nigerian forward played in Trabzonspor’s recent away match against Goztepe. He did not score or assist, but he still worked hard for the team. Before the game, Onuachu had already received three yellow cards, meaning one more would lead to a one-match ban. Unfortunately, he was booked again in the 76th minute for a foul. As a result, he will miss the big match against Besiktas on Sunday, which is a major setback for Trabzonspor.

There are also questions about whether Onuachu will be included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Even though he is the highest-scoring Nigerian striker in Europe this season, coach Eric Chelle has not picked him for any of the last three international windows. With the tournament approaching, it seems unlikely that the coach will suddenly change his mind.

However, since Onuachu will not play for Trabzonspor next week, he could join the national team camp earlier if he is selected. Nigeria will play Egypt in a warm-up match next week, and being free early could help his chances.

Chelle is expected to announce his final squad soon, and Onuachu will be hoping to be included.
