Paul Onuachu’s hat-trick propels Trabzonspor to spectacular victory

Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu spearheaded Trabzonspor with a hat-trick to a stunning 4-2 comeback victory over Gaziantep FK in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Super Eagles striker delivered a masterclass performance on Sunday afternoon, netting a superb hat-trick and providing an assist in a remarkable 18-minute spell during the second half, turning the tide of the match in favor of Trabzonspor.

Trabzonspor, seeking their 18th win of the campaign, found themselves trailing as Gaziantep took a commanding lead in the first half. Deian Cristian Sorescu opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the game, followed by Denis Drăguş doubling the advantage, leaving the hosts facing an uphill battle.

However, Onuachu sparked a sensational turnaround early in the second half, smashing home Trabzonspor’s first goal with a powerful strike. His relentless pursuit of victory bore fruit as he then turned provider, assisting Enis Bardhi’s equalizer in the 65th minute.

Not content with leveling the scoreline, Onuachu showcased his exceptional finishing abilities, rounding the goalkeeper before finding the net to complete Trabzonspor’s comeback just a minute later.

But the Nigerian forward wasn’t done yet. With 68 minutes on the clock, Onuachu delivered what could be deemed his finest goal of the day, unleashing a breathtaking strike into the top corner after controlling a cross with his chest, leaving his marker stranded.

This remarkable hat-trick marks a milestone for Onuachu, his first since joining Trabzonspor on loan from Southampton. It also harkens back to his prolific form in November 2022 when he secured four goals for KRC Genk in a 4-1 victory against Sporting Charleroi.

Aged 29, Onuachu continues to showcase his prowess on the pitch, amassing an impressive tally of 12 goals and four assists in just 18 Super Lig appearances this season.
