Pep Guardiola openly apologizes to Manchester City star
Pep Guardiola has publicly apologised to Jack Grealish for not giving him enough playing time this season, admitting that the winger “deserves” more minutes on the pitch.
Manchester City’s squad is one of the deepest in Europe, meaning that competition for places is fierce, and not every player can feature regularly, even if they have a large price tag.
Grealish, who joined City for £100million, has started only 12 games this season and played a total of 1,198 minutes. Despite his high value, he has often been overlooked in favour of younger, more energetic players like Jeremy Doku and Savinho, who have impressed Guardiola with their performances.
Guardiola acknowledged Grealish’s situation, saying: “I’m very sorry that he doesn’t get the minutes he might have deserved.” The manager expressed his regret over the lack of opportunities for Grealish, despite his obvious talent.
