Peter Crouch Backs Victor Osimhen Over Liam Delap for Manchester United Move
Former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch has shared his thoughts on who Manchester United should sign between Victor Osimhen and Liam Delap.
Manchester United have struggled for goals this season under manager Ruben Amorim and are enduring one of their worst campaigns in the Premier League era.
With the summer transfer window approaching, the club is looking to bring in a reliable striker to boost their attack ahead of next season.
Names like Osimhen, Delap, and Ademola Lookman have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford. However, Crouch, who scored 106 goals and made 61 assists in 468 Premier League matches, believes Osimhen is the better choice due to his experience.
“I think Delap has shown he can play in the Premier League, but it’s only been one season,” Crouch said on the Rio Presents Podcast.
“Osimhen has done it for years. As much as I like Delap and think he’s a great talent, if I had to pick one, I’d go with Osimhen because you know what he brings. He’s proven, and a striker like that can win games on his own.”
Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in top form this season. He has scored 22 league goals and leads the race for the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot, three goals ahead of Krzysztof Piątek. Galatasaray are also five points clear at the top of the table with five matches left.
Backing Crouch’s opinion, former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand also urged the club to sign Osimhen.
“Delap is a good player, but United don’t need potential right now. They need someone experienced,” Ferdinand said.
“Højlund needs help, not more pressure. Osimhen has played for big clubs like Galatasaray and Napoli, and he’s performed well in tough conditions. He knows how to score goals, and he could make a big difference for United straight away.”
With the summer transfer window approaching, all eyes will be on whether Manchester United go for proven quality in Osimhen or take a chance on a younger talent like Delap.
