Peter Olayinka joins Champions League bound Red Star Belgrade

Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka has joined Serbian club Red Star Belgrade after leaving Czech Republic side Slavia Prague.

The Nigerian striker who made name for himself at Slavia Prague traded the Czech Republic club for the Serbian club, Red Star Belgrade who are also known as Crvena Zvezda.

Red Star Belgrade announced his signing today. The club confirmed that Pete Olayinka signed a three-year contract with one more year possible extension.

“Red Star made a big deal when they agreed on the transfer of Peter Olanjinka in January 2023 without compensation,” said the club in a statement.

“Today, the winger from Nigeria, who signed a three-year contract with the possibility of a further extension, was unveiled.”

Peter Olayinka will be able to play in this year’s champions league if his side eventually qualify from the qualifying round.

Olayinka during an interview with the 1991 Champions League winner considered his move to Red Star Belgrade as a big step in his career.

“I already had the opportunity to visit the stadium and I am delighted with Maracana. It’s great to be in Zvezda, I feel great, everyone welcomed me and I can’t wait to play.

“I watched several Zvezda matches during the spring, I saw that we have a lot of quality players and a great team. Coming to Zvezda is a big step for my career.

“I am aware that it is a step forward, and change, although it is not easy, goes with the job of a football player. This is a new challenge that I have set before myself.”
