1994 Africa Cup of Nations winning goalkeeper Peter Rufai has predicted how far the Super Eagles will go at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Rufai, was in goal when Nigeria won it’s second Africa Cup of Nations title in 1994.

The veteran shot-stopper in a chat with Complete Sports has hailed the current Super Eagles team for their performance in the 6-0 spanking of Sao Tome and Principe to end AFCON qualification journey.

He also said that the crop of players available to Head Coach Jose Peseiro are talented and will go far at the AFCON.

Rufai said “I am very delighted with the general performance of the Super Eagles against Sao Tome and in the group. This is just what Nigerians want to see, goals and goals.

“But critically looking at the team, I want to believe that they will be a tough nut to crack at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria have quality players at the moment and I am optimistic they will go far in Ivory Coast, ” the Ex-International predicted.
