Pietersen: ‘Stokes’ England recall is a shambles’
Former batsman Kevin Pietersen has criticised England’s decision to recall all-rounder Ben Stokes from the Indian Super League in order to join them at a training camp in Spain.
The Durham player helped Rising Pune Supergiant reach the IPL play-offs having scored 316 runs in 12 matches and having taken 12 wickets.
“I think it’s pathetic. An absolute shambles,” the ex-England player said on Sky Sports.
“Stokes should be playing in the semi-final and the final. The last week of the IPL is a huge occasion.”
The 36-year-old added: “What are they going to Spain for? To field a couple of balls?”
