Plateau United 2 Niger Tornadoes 0: Umar & Azango goals end Ikon Allah unbeaten run

Plateau United got back to winning ways putting last weekend’s loss behind them after they ended Niger Tornadoes unbeaten streak with a convincing 2-0 victory at Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.

Niger Tornadoes were unbeaten in their last 5, but Kabiru Umar and Phillip Azango’s goals were enough for the Jos Based side to end Tornadoes unbeaten run.

Kennedy Boboye’s team beat Niger Tornadoes 2-0 and still remained pretty on top of the log with 20 points from 9 Matches.

Plateau United tried so hard before they could get the opener Phillip Azango had a chance from the Free Kick in the 21st minute, but was parried away by Niger Tornadoes Goalkeeper, Mustapha Aliko.

Mustapha Aliko seemed to be the saviour for the Tornadoes team making series of saves, also saving Elisha Golbe’s free kick in the 43rd minute. But he was finally beaten in the 45+3 minute, when Elisha Golbe’s Free Kick saw Kabiru Umar convert in the box.

It ended 1 nil at Half Time. But early in the second half, Plateau came knocking for the 2nd goal, but Joshua Obaje’s 49th minute long range shot was saved once again by tornadoes hero, Mustapha Aliko, but they finally got the winner via Phillip Azango in the 57th minute.

For Tornadoes, their best chance in the first half came to Ebenezer Odeyemi, but was ruled offiside. They also had an open space in the 41st minute with a good counter attack move, but Daniel Itodo who was tracking back cleared away the danger.

Tornadoes had nothing to get in the game, and had their unbeaten run end.

A good game for Kennedy Boboye and his team, as they still remained top and was pleased also.
“Good to see us back to winning ways, and remain top, but we could have scored more in the game. It’s a good result and we are happy” said Boboye.
