Plateau United thrash 10-man Sunshine stars to maintain 100% record

Plateau United continued their strong start to the new Nigeria Professional Football League with a comfortable 3-1 victory over 10-man Sunshine Stars at the Rwang Pam stadium in Jos in the matchday three.

Plateau United got the lead on the stroke of half-time from Benjamin Turba which goal looked like an offside, but according to the referee, it was a goal and it stood.

Kabiru Umar increased the home team’s tally in the 70th minute, and Emeka Umeh increased their tally to three to put the game beyond the visitors.

The win saw Plateau United remain top of the log with 100% record, nine points from 3 games.

For Sunshine Stars, it wasn’t a good day for the Owena Waves as they had a player Ayo Saka sent off, in the mid of the first half, before Plateau got the lead.

The teams protested the Plateau’s goal which they felt was an offside goal and had their team secretary, Kayode Oluwole sent off through the protest. However, they got a consolation goal from Alaba Adeniyi in the late stages of the 2nd half.

The loss sees Sunshine Stars with only 3 points from 3 games, not really a good one to the start of the season for the Akure-based side.

Good win for Plateau, sad one for Sunshine and Plateau united would be so happy and dearly look to maintain the winning run, while Sunshine stars would look ahead to bounce back from this loss.
