As part of preparations for the 2022/2023 NPFL season, Akwa United FC will face Enyimba International and Enugu Rangers in Pre-season friendly games this weekend.
First, Akwa United FC will face Enyimba International FC at the Enyimba stadium in Aba on Friday October 14 , 2022 by 3pm.
The Promise Keepers will then take on Enugu Rangers at the recently inaugurated Eket Stadium on Sunday October 16, by 4pm.
According to information available on the Akwa United FC official website, Head Coach Ayodeji Ayeni will use the friendly matches to access the performance of his playing personnel, especially the new signings ahead of the upcoming season.
Akwa United FC will be without the services of Olympic Eagles invitee James Ajako and Mathew Etim who is reportedly ill.
In their place, David Philip, Evans Ogbonda, Victor Ifiok and Taiye Muritala will turn out for the 2021 NPFL Champions at left-back and right-back respectively in the two games.
No date has been released for the commencement of the 2022/2023 Nigerian Professional Football League season.
