Potter handed new signing Benoit Badiashile his first start since joining the club from Monaco, while Lewis Hall maintained his place in the line up.
Chelsea dominated and created some chances in the first half, but Guaita was in an inspired form for Crystal Palace.
Kepa, on the other hand was also key for Chelsea as he made two vital saves in the first period.
Kai Havertz scored the only goal with an header from a pinpoint cross by Hakim Ziyech in the 64th minute to end Chelsea’s poor run.
New signing,Ā Mykhailo Mudryk was unveiled at Stamford Bridge during the break.
Potter has opened up on what the fans should expect from Mudryk.
“You’re never surprised in the transfer window,” Potter told reporters.
“Things happen when you don’t expect them to happen. He’s a player with a big future, one vs one he’s very direct, he attacks the back-line. I think our supporters will really like him.”
Mudryk is expected to make his Chelsea debut against Liverpool next weekend.
