President Tinubu Congratulates Remo Stars on Historic NPFL Title Win
Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars for winning the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.
Remo Stars secured their first-ever NPFL championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Ikenne on Sunday.
The Sky Blue Stars now sit top of the table with 68 points from 35 matches, with three games still to play before the end of the season.
Daniel Ogunmodede’s side hold a 10-point lead over their closest rivals, Rivers United, who are second with 58 points from the same number of matches.
Remo Stars also made history by becoming the first privately owned club to win the NPFL title since Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed Remo Stars’ historic success. He described their triumph, just four years after gaining promotion to the top flight, as a testament to the hard work, discipline, and resilience of the players, coaching crew, and management.
The President also praised the vision and dedication of the club’s owner and chairman, Mr Kunle Soname, for his commitment to developing football in Nigeria.
