“The Egyptian delegation departed via a chartered flight immediately after the match on Sunday,” Akpan said in the notice.
He added that the delegation, led by Club President Mahmoud Eid, was pleased with their stay in Nigeria. “The delegation expressed their appreciation to Rivers United, the Akwa Ibom State Football Association and the fans for what they described as a hitch-free and pleasurable experience in Nigeria,” he stated.

On the pitch, the defending champions showed their class despite several injuries as they defeated Rivers United 4-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Rivers United took the lead in the 33rd minute through Manyo, giving the home fans hope. However, Pyramids responded strongly in the second half. Fathi equalised in the 52nd minute, while Marwan scored in the 66th minute to put the visitors ahead.
