Quadri finally beat Harimoto, falls to Calderano in the #WTTSmash Quarterfinal

Thanks Nigerians for their support

Aruna Quadri has finally defeated world number 4 Tomokazu Harimoto in a game on his fourth attempt after a straight sets win at the Singapore Smash.

Tomokazu Harimoto had a 3-0 record going into this clash but Aruan Quadri produced one of his best games yet to claim a 3-0 (11-7, 13-11, 11-7) against the Japanese to book a spot in the quarter-finals.

Quadri sets up a quarterfinal clash against world number 5 Hugo Calderano. It is the second time both players will be playing against each other.

The Brazillian won in their last meeting, and again on Friday, he was victorious against Aruna Quadri.

Hugo Calderano took a straight 4-0 (7-11, 10-12, 2-11, 2-11) win over Aruna Quadri.

“I was not too happy with my display in the quarterfinal but I am happy that I once again showed what I can do on a big stage,” said Quadri after his exit.

“I look ahead to more tournaments hoping to do well. I thank Nigerians, Africans, and my fans worldwide for their outpouring of support.

“The Nigerian media has been my strong supporter and I must also thank them for putting me out there.

“I will not stop working hard, and giving my best all the time.”
