Quadri flies Nigerian flag, through to last 8 in World Table Tennis tourney

Another brilliant performance from Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri in Doha saw Africa’s number one ranked player qualify for the quarterfinal of the men’s singles tournament in the first ever World Table Tennis Contender series.

After defeating India’s world number 37 Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in the first round, he defeated Portugal’s Joao Geraldo on Thursday March 4. The Nigerian, ranked 20th in the world, gave his all to beat the southpaw 3-2 (10-12, 12-10, 12-10, 4-11, 11-6) to set up a quarterfinal clash against Chinese Taipei’s Yun-Ju Lin on Friday March 5, 2021.
