Quadri makes semi as Obazuaye marches in to final in #GC2018TableTennis

It is now certain that Nigeria’s table tennis team will add at least a medal to the men’s team silver medal won at the ongoing 2018 Commonwealth Games, in Gold Coast, Australia after Faith Obazuaye and Aruna Quadri made it to the final and semi-final respectively.

Faith Obazuaye breezed into the final of Women’s TT6-10 after she defeated England’s Felicity Pickard 3-0 (11-6,11-7,11-8) in the semifinal.

Faith Obazuaye has been a ruler taller than all the competitors she has faced so far winning all her games without dropping a set as she book a final spot.

In her first game, she defeated Australia’s Andrea MCDONNELL 3-0, beat India’s Vaishnavi SUTAR 3-0, trashed
Canada’s Stephanie CHAN 3-0 in the quarterfinal before her resounding success against England’s Felicity Pickard in the semis.

She will now play Australia’s Melissa TAPPER in Saturday’s final.

Africa’s number 2 and the only man remaining from team Nigeria’s men, Aruna Quadri also booked his place in the semifinal where he will face India’s Achanta Sharath on Saturday.

It will be another opportunity for Aruna Quadri to add to the silver medal he already won with the team and also make up for the disappointment of losing in the quarterfinal of the men’s double.
