Rafiatu Folashade Lawal breaks three games records to win Nigeria’s 2nd gold medal at 2022 CWG

The medals are now trickling as Rafiatu Folashade Lawal broke three commonwealth games records to win Nigeria the second gold medal at the ongoing games in Birmingham.

A few hours after we celebrated the bronze medal won by Edidiong Joseph Umoafia in the men’s 67kg Weightlifting event, another weightlifter has done it.

Rafiatu Folashade Lawal dominated throughout breaking and setting records en route to her gold medal.

She lifted a combined total of 206kg to win Nigeria’s third medal at the event.

So far, weightlifting has given Nigeria three medals, two golds, and one bronze.

1. Olarinoye Adenike Adijat – Gold Medal in the women’s 55kg weightlifting
2. Edidiong Joseph Umoafia – Bronze Medal in men’s 67kg Weightlifting
3. Rafiatu Folashade Lawal – Gold Medal in women’s 59kg Weightlifting
