Rangers Head Coach Abdul Maikaba hails standard of Eket Stadium after Pre-season friendly loss

Enugu Rangers International FC Head Coach Abdul Maikaba has hailed the standard of the Eket Stadium after his side fell to a 2-0 friendly loss to Akwa United FC at the venue on Sunday.

Maikaba’s Rangers were taken down by the Promise Keepers courtesy of second half goals by Solomon Chigozie and Dennis Nya in the Pre-season friendly game.

In his post match interview with the Akwa United FC Media, the former Akwa United FC Head Coach hailed the standard of facilities at the newly constructed edifice as ” One of the best in the country.”

Maikaba said “This Eket stadium is one of the best standard sport facility in Nigeria and I believe it will be a good source of encouragement and motivation for youths in Akwa Ibom and around the country in developing their talents in sports”

” The government of Akwa Ibom State have made a huge investment for the future of sports not just in the state but in Nigeria, ” Maikaba continued .

” With what we are seeing I can say that the government is committed and determined to discover, nurture and encourage budding sport talents hence, the construction of this edifice.

“If all the states can have at least one standard stadium like what we are seeing here in Eket, then the future of sports will be very bright in Nigeria. It is important to have standard sporting facilities like this if we are truly serious about developing raw talents in sports, especially football in this country,” He said.

Having enjoyed a productive spell with Akwa United FC, Maikaba is no stranger to the rave of sports infrastructural developments in Akwa Ibom State and had kind words for the state governments investment in sporting Facilities.

Akwa Ibom State is home to two Nigeria Professional Football League teams Akwa United FC and Dakkada FC, but for distance, Maikaba will have recommended the Eket Stadium for his team whilst their home ground undergoes renovation.

“Now that our stadium is not ready, I wish Eket was near enough for us to choose it as our alternative venue” The respected gaffer said.

Just like Abdul Maikaba described during his teams work-out, the Eket Stadium has an Astro turf that is ” sweet to play on ” plus dressing rooms of the best quality that left Maikaba wishing this standard could be replicated across the country.

As earlier reported, Vandrezzer FC is targeting use of the 18,000 structure following its relocation to the Land of it’s birth .

Dakkada FC SportsRation understands may also shift it’s base from the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo to the new structure for the 2022/2023 season.

Maikaba and his Enugu Rangers charges were 1-0 victors over Carabana Football Academy on Monday morning at the Practice pitch of the Nest of Champions in their second pre-season game in Nigeria’s Land of Promise as part of preparations for the next NPFL season.
