Rangers International receives NPFL approval to return to Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu

Rangers International FC have been granted approval by the NPFL board to return to their home ground, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

This decision comes after the club had to relocate its home fixtures to Awka, Anambra State, during the 2022/23 season when the Enugu stadium was declared unfit for NPFL matches.

Following the relocation, Rangers International took significant steps to rehabilitate the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The improvements included re-grassing of the turf, modernization of dressing rooms, and upgrades to spectator stands. The club aimed to ensure that the stadium met the required standards for NPFL matches.

The NPFL, after a recent inspection of the facility at the invitation of Rangers International, reviewed its decision to ban the stadium.

In a correspondence from the NPFL to Rangers, signed by Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer, the league conveyed its approval.

This decision allows Rangers International to host matches at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium starting from MatchDay 16.

The timing of the approval is notable as Rangers International will be hosting their traditional rivals, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, at the Coal City in their return to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The approval is a positive development for both the club and its fans, allowing them to once again experience the excitement of watching and cheering for their favorite team at the historic Cathedral, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
