Rangers pip Aberdeen in the battle of four Nigerian stars

Four Nigerian players were on the team sheets as Rangers pip Aberdeen 1-0 at Pittodrie Stadium as the Scottish Premier League new season began on Saturday.

Ryan Kent first half goal was all that the game needed for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers to secure the maximum points on Saturday.

But three Nigerian players were involved while one was an unused sub. Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo were on the pitch for Rangers while Funsho Ojo played for Aberdeen.

Leon Balogun who recently joined Rangers on a free transfer was on the pitch the entire game same as Joe Aribo who was recently named club’s young player and the winner of the goal of the season.

Funsho Ojo who is Belgian born of Nigerian descent was on the pitch until 75 minutes when he was subbed off.

Calvin Ughelumba was an unused sub for Rangers the former Leicester City defender wasn’t called upon as Rangers pip Aberden to start the new campaign with a win.
