Rasheedat Ajibade: Cape Verde was not an easy team to beat

Super Falcons of Nigeria star, Rasheedat Ajibade says Cape Verde was not an easy team to beat in the 2024 WAFCON final qualifying round.

Ajibade’s comment comes after the Super Falcons walloped Cape Verde 7-1 on aggregate to book a 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations [WAFCON] spot.

The Atletico Madrid Feminine star was Nigeria’s stand-in captain for both games, scoring the winner as the Falcons emerged 1-2 victors of Cape Verde in the second leg in Praia on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

It wasn’t an easy game, and Cape Verde wasn’t an easy team. They are also a very good side but of course, the better side won the game,” Ajibade said per the Super Falcons show shared on X.

“As a team, we have a standard for ourselves. So that’s what we’ve been building on. We kept challenging ourselves that we are good and we are better. So we have to play up to that standard.

“We kept encouraging each other, pushing each other, to get more from ourselves, that every game, we have to do out best to win, we have to give out 100% on the field.”

Nigeria have thus qualified for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be hosted by Morocco.

Coach Justin Madugu tutored Nigerian Ladies will return to action when the Olympics qualifiers resumes with the Lionessses a final qualifying round hurdle.
