Ray Allen: Stephen Curry is best I have ever seen shoot

Despite his recent shooting struggles, Stephen Curry is still considered as one of the best shooters of all-time — but if you ask Ray Allen, he’ll just flat out tell you he’s the best he’s ever seen.

The 41-year-old three-point king made an appearance in ESPN’s First Take and shone praise on the reigning back-to-back MVP.
“I think right now, from what I’ve seen, it’s easy for me to say that he’s the best that I’ve ever seen shoot,” Allen said nonchalantly.
“I’ve seen some great shooters.”
“I really put him in a category all of his own. The way he plays the game, being a point guard that can handle the way he handles the ball, and the way he can shoot the ball, and the way he shoots it.”

Curry’s shot is the modern day’s monument of what a professional shooter can accomplish.

Flawless mechanics, fast twitch-muscle response, great eye-to-ball coordination, lofty arch, quick release, uncanny shot balance, coupled with a fearlessness to take any shot, anywhere. You name it, Curry has it.

Not only has the Golden State Warriors point guard revolutionized the art of shooting in an NBA world that has been infatuated with high-risers and their dunking antics, but he’s done so by re-writing pre-conceived notions of what a sharpshooter really is.

No longer is a top-of-the-line shooter meant to be a spot-up shooter and be able to do if off screens, but also off the dribble, on the run, and with heavy traffic.

Allen’s recognition of his overall skill, even when Curry is undergoing the worst slump of his career, speaks loudly of the high esteem he has among some of the great shooters the NBA has seen.

Respect from peers is often respect at its finest degree.
