Real Betis Vs Chelsea: Jackson returns to Chelsea XI for Conference League Final
Chelsea have Nicolas Jackson back in the starting line-up for tonight’s UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis.
Jackson missed the last two Premier League matches due to suspension after receiving a red card during the 2-0 loss to Newcastle earlier this month.
Despite being without their main striker, Chelsea still managed to beat both Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, securing fourth place in the Premier League and a return to next season’s Champions League.
Now, Jackson returns to lead the attack. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admitted he is a bit concerned about the short time between matches, as Chelsea only played Nottingham Forest on Sunday. In contrast, Real Betis finished their LaLiga season on Friday, giving them more rest.
Maresca has also confirmed that Filip Jorgensen will start in goal instead of Robert Sanchez. Jorgensen has played nearly all the games in this European competition.
Trevoh Chalobah is back in defence after being left out of recent league matches, which many saw as unlucky. Reece James, the club captain, is rested due to his ongoing recovery schedule, with Malo Gusto starting at right-back.
Marc Guiu, who scored the most goals during the league stage of the competition, is on the bench after returning from injury. Christopher Nkunku is also back in the squad after a month out.
Romeo Lavia is not eligible to play, as he was not included in Chelsea’s European squad to help manage his recovery.
Chelsea starting XI: Jorgensen; Gusto, Chalobah, Badiashile, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.
