Real Madrid give Chelsea edge over Man Utd in £52m transfer race

Premier League Champion Chelsea is in pole position to sign Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez with Los Blancos reportedly prepared to listen to offers for the star player.

The 25-year-old Rodriguez has attracted interest from various clubs around Europe this summer after a frustrating last season at the Bernabeu, in which he started only 13 La Liga matches.

The Colombia skipper is said to be open to a move after spending three years in the Spanish capital and Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in capturing the South American superstar.

According to Spanish outlet AS say former Monaco star Rodriguez is heading towards a summer departure as Real Madrid close in on a move for Spain international and Real Betis attacking midfielder Dani Ceballos.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is willing to offload the former Porto playmaker should a suitable offer arrive and the Blues are ready to step up their interest.

It is claimed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to sign new five players this transfer summer which include Monaco workaholic star Tiemoue Bakayoko and Roma dependable defender Antonio Rudiger who just won Confederation Cup with Germany and he will spend the cash from he got from troublesome striker Diego Costa’s imminent sale on James Rodriguez.

Former Real Madrid coach Josee Mourinho has held an interest in the attacking midfielder for several months but AS suggest Los Blancos would prefer to do business with the Blues.

While the French giant Paris Saint-Germain is also eyeing a deal worth around £52million but the Paris base club will prioritize a stunning move for Monaco teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe this summer.
