Red-hot Super Eagles hopeful makes Ligue 1 October team of the Month
Red-hot Super Eagles of Nigeria hopeful, Adams Akor has been named in French Ligue 1 team of the month of October 2023.
In the month under review, Adams Akor scored four goals for Montpellier and that was enough to earn him a center forward role in the French Ligue 1 team of the month of October.
The former Nigeria U-20 striker scored a brace twice to grind out important points for Montpellier.
Just yesterday, Adams was named Montpellier’s Player of the Month for October ahead of midfielder Savanier who also made the Ligue 1 team of the month.
An impressive start to life at Montpellier has seen the striker score seven goals in nine appearances in the French topflight.
As announced on the Ligue 1, X handle on Thursday November 2, 2023, the Nigerian striker is joined on the team of the month by French Superstar Kyllian Mbappe who features in a wide attacking role.
Interestingly, the team of the month has players from four Ligue 1 teams, Montpellier (2), PSG (3), Lille OSC (2) and Lens (4).
Adams Akor will treasure his latest recognition as he continues to push for a Super Eagles call-up having set his sight on representing the Nigeria national team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations ( AFCON ) in Ivory Coast.
Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro will be tempted to hand Adams Akor his maiden senior national team call-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification games vs Lesotho and Zimbabwe in November with Napoli SSC forward Victor Osimhen expected to miss the games with Injury suffered during the friendly match vs Saudi Arabia In October.
