Red-hot Super Eagles striker nearing Premier League switch
Super Eagles and FC Lorient ace Terem Moffi is closing in on a January switch to the English Premier League after impressing in the French Ligue 1. Moffi has been one of the finest strikers in France in the 2022-23 season and his numbers buttress this fact.
Moffi has scored ten goals in 16 Ligue 1 appearances for FC Lorient this season to help the side reach sixth in the league standings. The 23-year-old has been a key player for the French side since joining from Belgian outfit KV Kortrijk in 2020.
Moffi is the subject of interest from English Premier League outfit Southampton. The English outfit has already seen an opening bid of £15 million rejected, with FC Lorient holding firm to their £25 million valuation of the striker. A number of other Premier League sides are interested in a deal for the striker.
Southampton are currently struggling in the Premier League, where they are at the foot of the table with only three wins from their opening 18 matches. The striker will be reunited with fellow Super Eagles star Joe Aribo at St Mary’s Stadium if the deal goes through.
Moffi scored his first Super Eagles goals in Nigeria’s record-breaking win over minnows Sao Tome & Principe. The left-footed striker has shown a variety of finishes for FC Lorient this season and may be the solution to the goalscoring woes of the Saints in the Premier League this season.
