Red-hot Super Falcons striker Esther Okoronkwo gets new club

Spanish Club UDG Tenerife has announced the transfer of red-hot Super Falcons of Nigeria forward Esther Okoronkwo for the 2023/2024 season.

According to a statement on the Clubs official website, Esther has signed until 2025 from French club AS Saint-Étienne where she was key to their promotion to the French D1 this season.

The Nigerian striker becomes the clubs first signing of the window and with her future sorted will head to the 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup as one of Nigeria’s hottest attacking options.

Born in Abia State Nigeria on March 27, 1997, Tenerife are hoping to see the forward lead their frontline for the next two seasons.

Her quality, power and speed will be of service to the José Herrera tutored ladies.

A Nigerian International, Esther Okoronkwo made her debut in February of this year with the Super Falcons against Colombia.

Her first goal came in her second international match against Costa Rica to clip a worrying winless run for the Randy Waldrum tutored ladies.

Since then Esther has become a regular in the Super Falcons set-up as they prepare for the World Cup, starring alonside Spain based forwards Oshoala and Ajibade.

Esther Okoronkwo said of her move to Spain “UDG Tenerife is an incredible team, with great footballers who can only make me a better player too. I like challenges and together with this team we can achieve great things.
The Spanish league is one of the best leagues out there and I am very excited about this new journey, I am looking forward to joining the team and meeting my new teammates”.

On his part, President of the blue and white outfit, Sergio Batista, said “The arrival of Esther will mean a plus of quality for our offensive field. She is a player who can make a difference, it has not been an easy operation, but we are very happy that she has opted for our project.”
