Remo Stars coach Issues warning to Sporting Lagos ahead of NPFL derby-clash

Ahead of the highly-anticipated NPFL south-west derby showdown, Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has issued a stern warning to his Sporting Lagos counterpart, Paul Offor, as their teams prepare to clash on Sunday.

The upcoming match revives the spirited South-west derby, with both teams eager to claim victory.

The rivalry between the two clubs gained momentum during the Naija Super 8 tournament, where Sporting Lagos defeated the Stars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena last year to claim the title. The intense atmosphere of a packed stadium underscored the significance of this local derby in the Nigerian league.

Despite Sporting Lagos making headlines in the Naija Super 8, Remo Stars secured a 2-1 victory in their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League meeting.

Ahead of the second leg, Coach Ogunmodede expressed confidence in his team’s ability to handle Sporting’s home advantage, emphasizing the readiness of their traveling supporters to match the home crowd’s energy.

While Sporting Lagos has displayed formidable form, losing only one of their last five matches, Remo Stars remain undeterred and prepared to face the challenge head-on.

“Their position doesn’t justify their performance on the pitch, they’re a very good side, and will be bringing the smoke but we’ll be ready. They have great fans, but I trust our fans to troop out tomorrow and match the energy,” the Remo Stars gaffer said

Coach Daniel  Ogunmodede will be boosted by news that Sporting Lagos will be without key players like Clement Naantaum due to injury and Tochukwu Udeh, who is ineligible to play against his parent club, Remo Stars, as per contractual agreements.

The stage is set for an exhilarating showdown as both teams vie for supremacy. The match kicks off at 4:00 PM tomorrow at the Moboloji Johnson Arena in Lagos, Nigeria.
